I decided to start this blog after finishing one of the most stressful semesters of my life. I had an internship with this woman who gave me so much hell that I literally had to go to therapy to deal with the stress (I wish I was joking about that...). One of the only compliments she ever paid me was that I was a good writer and should try to pursue it.
Well... okay then.
I have always like to write, but having no opportunities to truly publish something, or indeed, even an idea worth being published, I decided to do what nearly every person who wants to be heard nowadays does... start a blog. Terribly original, I know.
So, here I am. I am planning on posting all sorts of things on here- whatever I feel like, really, but I decided to base the main idea around the fact that I am a dyed-in-the-wool introvert for several reasons. First of all, pretty much the main criticism I got from the aforementioned internship supervisor was something about my "needing to be more extroverted". She never ceased to try to turn the fact that I am quieter than most people and enjoy spending time alone into some sort of death sentence that would kill my career aspirations and generally make me miserable for life.
However, I luckily know myself well enough and have the strength of mind to recognize that this surprisingly common viewpoint is dead wrong, and I plan on talking about this issue at great length in the blog.
The second reason why I wanted this blog to focus on introversion in myself and in general is because I believe that there are many people out there who are very much like me in this aspect. It took me years to realize that I was not weird or strange and that I was definitely not the first person to feel like that. I want to share with others what I have learned and continue to learn about the benefits of being an introvert, and about self-acceptance in general.
I want this blog to feel like a place where everyone is welcome, introvert or not. I want to above all else, keep a positive and accepting atmosphere. Though I can't promise what type of random topics I will feel like writing about in the future, I can promise that you won't see anything hateful or rude or spiteful, I am not a rant-y type of person. I want to focus on things I love. I hope you will do the same.
